#PalestineIsHere is the new hashtag that people use to criticize Google’s last mistake of removing Palestine from Google maps, whereas others preferred to stop using all Google’s applications starting from its search engine Google search.
People from all around the world show anger and dissatisfaction around Google previous move by sharing posts and tweets hold in their core a lot of anger, making of it a global issue not only a Palestinian one.
A brief statement published by the Palestinian media forum condemns the crime carried out by Google on July 25 of this year, and they argue that Google must go back on its decision and apologize to the Palestinian people.
Google commented about this issue and asserted that Palestine wasn’t appearing on its maps, and supported it comment by saying that Palestine name appears only when a user click on a specific area of the map, including west bank and Gaza Strip. In addition to what Google said, it argued also that Palestine name has been removed from its map because of a technical issue and they are working on fixing that as soon as possible.
A petition has published on change.org aims to collect signatures to force Google to add Palestine to Google maps. According to the petition “The omission of Palestine is a grievous insult to the people of Palestine and undermines the efforts of the millions of people who are involved in the campaign to secure Palestinian independence and freedom from Israeli occupation and oppression.” Up to now, there are 296,147 supporters.
