This is why Most Airplanes Painted White!
Do you have any idea about why airplanes are painted white? If you don’t have any precognition about it, then you are in the right place. Let’s get started by the first reason:
White color is visible. As you know, white color is one of the most visible colors among others. I am not talking about its visibility in the sky, no! I’m talking about cracks and corrosion visibility, whereby fixing them becomes easier. It is easy to see a huge wagon from a long distance, as well as spotting a crushed airplane on both water and land and even in the dark. Therefor white color helps in locating airplane wreckage easily.
White resists against sun exposure. Other colors fade away due to exposure to the sun unlike white color it doesn’t. Plus it strength to resist against sun exposure, It plays very well with water while other colors don’t.
Painting is expensive. Painting an airplane cost around $50 to $200k per plane. And of course, more paint equal more weight, more weight equal more fuel and more fuel equal more money. We all know that airplane companies aim is to make money and not the opposite.
And of course there are too many factors that can be added to the ones I have mentioned above. One more factor that I would like to mention is:
Lower resale Value. A smart airline company owner who would like to sell a plane, he does not need to repaint it. Subsequently, all he needs to do is to change old company name and logo.
